What is an AA Meeting?
An AA Meeting is an assembly where alcoholics and people who struggle with drug use gather for one hour to discuss their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Glendale, Ohio will share their experience getting sober through their personal anecdotes with anyone looking to get sober. There is no religious, social or economic association for membership, just the aspiration to stop drinking, and live a happy & healthy life without alcohol.
How to Choose an AA Meeting in Glendale, Ohio
It is important when coming to AA that you choose a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that motivates members to speak their truth and accept help. The second type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other illicit substances is not allowed. A Step Study is a gathering that is simply a specific step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings revolve around the 12 traditions of AA. The 12 traditions are not the same as the 12 steps. The traditions were established to maintain order throughout AA and holding each group accountable to these traditions is why you can join an AA Meeting anywhere in across the globe to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Glendale, Ohio
The members who benefit the most from AA tend to find success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. For people who are attending their first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we recommend following the suggestions of the AA members that have been a part of Alcoholics Anonymous for a while.
It is important that you reach your hand out and ask for help. Part of staying sober is helping the new attendees of AA in Glendale maintain their sobriety, so people are going to be open to helping you not drink too. Stand up, introduce who you are, admit that you need help.
