What is an AA Meeting?
An Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting is a place to spread a message of strength, hope and courage to other alcoholics. This is a safe place for somebody seeking sobriety to come in and ask for help. These meetings in Gladiola, New Mexico will help them build a support system to live a sober life. You will be invited in by your peers that have all lived and survived from a hopeless state of mind and body. Their survival of maintaining this state is dependent on helping others and giving back to others the support that they received.
How to Choose an AA Meeting in Gladiola, New Mexico
It is important when coming to AA that you select a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not solely for new comers but is a meeting that motivates them to share their stories and ask for help. The second type of meeting would be a single gender meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other illicit substances is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply focused on a single step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings revolve around the 12 traditions of AA. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout AA and maintaining accountability to these traditions is the reason you can walk into a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Gladiola, New Mexico
In order to benefit the most from your first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting you should remain open minded. We all had an idea of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The one piece of advice I was ever given was to sit down, stop talking, pay attention to the message, and graciously ask for help. No matter the type of meeting meeting, there will be the same message of recovering from hopelessness. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another addict which you will find in any Alcoholics Anonymous meeting you choose as your first.
