What is an AA Meeting?
A meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is an assembly where alcoholics and people who struggle with addiction gather for one hour to express their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Spokane, Missouri will share their experience getting sober through their personal stories with anyone looking to get sober. There is no religious, social or economic association for membership, just the want to achieve sobriety, and live a productive life without alcohol.
How to Choose an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Spokane, Missouri
It is important when coming to Alcoholics Anonymous that you choose a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that encourages them to share their stories and ask for help. The next type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to maintain sobriety from alcohol. Talking about any other substance use addictions is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply focused on a single step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are based off the 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 traditions are different than the 12 steps. The traditions were created to maintain order throughout Alcoholics Anonymous and maintaining accountability to these traditions is the reason you can attend an AA Meeting anywhere in across the globe to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Spokane, Missouri
The members who benefit the most from AA tend to find success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. If you are attending your first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we suggest following the suggestions of the AA members that have been a part of Alcoholics Anonymous for a while.
It is recommended that you accept where you are at with you sobriety and accept help. Part of not drinking is helping the newcomers of AA in Spokane maintain their sobriety, so people are going to be open to helping you not drink too. Stand up, say who you are, admit that you need help.
