What is an AA Meeting?
An AA Meeting is a place to spread a message of strength, hope and courage to other alcoholics. This is a safe place for an addict wanting to get sober to come in and ask for help. These AA Meetings in Brookline, MA will help them build a support network to live a sober life. You will be invited in by your peers that have all lived and survived from a hopeless state of mind and body. Their ability to maintain a sober life is reliant on helping others and giving back to others the gift that they received.
How to Choose an AA Meeting in Brookline, MA
It is important when coming to AA that you select a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that encourages members to speak their truth and reach out for help. Another type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, either a men’s meeting or women’s meeting. These types of meeting are closed to the opposite sex. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to stay sober from alcohol. Talking about any other drugs is not allowed. A Step Study is a gathering that is simply a specific step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are focused around the 12 traditions of AA. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions were established to maintain order throughout AA and maintaining accountability to these traditions is the reason you can walk into an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Brookline, MA
The most successful members of AA have found success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. For people who are attending their first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we recommend following the suggestions of the AA members that have been a part of AA for a while.
It is smart to reach your hand out and ask for help. Part of not drinking is helping the new people of AA in Brookline live a sober life, so people are going to be more than willing to help you get sober too. Stand up, say who you are, admit that you need help.
