Alcoholics Anonymous is one of most commonly recognized programs in the United States and around the world that helps countless men and women achieve sobriety in the pursuit of lifelong recovery. AA meetings are typically made up of small groups of recovering alcoholics who share their recovery journey and are there to help new members stay sober.
Selecting An Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Tennessee, Illinois
There are a variety different AA meetings in Tennessee, Illinois. Before selecting the meeting that you are going to attend, it is beneficial to know the different types of AA meetings and who can attend each one.
Open Meeting of AA – An Open Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is open to anyone who has a desire to attend. You do not have to have an alcohol addiction to go to an open Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting. Friends, family, and children can attend these meetings.

AA Literature Meeting – A literature meeting typically revolves around reading from one of the AA approved pieces of literature and an sometimes they open the floor to discussion at the end or a speaker about the literature of topic.

How to Get The Most From a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Tennessee, Illinois
In order to get the most out of your first AA meeting you should keep an open minded. Everyone had preconceived notions of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The one piece of advice I was ever given was to sit down, stop talking, listen to the message, and humbly ask for help. At any meeting, there will be the same message of recovering from a hopeless state of mind. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another person suffering from alcoholism which you will find in any meeting you choose to make your first.
