The Best Method of Selecting an AA Meeting in Campus, IL
Alcoholism is a disease of the mind, body, and soul. AA has developed meetings to guide you through each individual piece of your independence from alcohol. If you are looking for a meeting on the 1st three steps, you should select a beginner meeting. If you are looking to focus on your spiritual side, attending a meditation meeting can help. If you are in search of another individuals story of how they overcame alcoholism, a speaker meeting is the right place for you. If you are through your steps and are now working on the traditions of AA, a traditions meetings will help. If you want to attend a group with just your gender, you can go to a men’s or women's meeting where you wont find anyone of the opposite gender there. All in all there is a meeting for everyone. Try them out until you find one that you feel most comfortable at.
How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Campus, IL
The best way to benefit the most from your first AA meeting you should keep an open minded. We all had an idea of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The one piece of advice I was ever given was to sit down, shut up, pay attention to the message, and graciously ask for help. Regardless of the meeting, there will be the same message of recovering from hopelessness. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another person suffering from alcoholism which you will find in any Alcoholics Anonymous meeting you choose to start with.
