What is an AA Meeting?
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship created to help its members achieve sobriety. There is no charge to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Moscow, Pennsylvania as the funding is voluntarily contributed from its members.
Alcoholics Anonymous is one of most commonly known programs in the United States and around the world that helps countless men and women overcome their alcohol addiction in the pursuit of lifelong recovery. They are commonly made up of small groups of people who share their experiences getting sober and are there to help new members achieve sobriety.
How to Choose an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Moscow, Pennsylvania
It is important when coming to Alcoholics Anonymous that you choose a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of AA meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that motivates members to speak their truth and ask for help. Another type of meeting would be a single gender meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other drugs is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply focused on a single step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are focused on the 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout Alcoholics Anonymous and holding each group accountable to these traditions is why you can join an AA Meeting anywhere in across the globe to hear the same message.
How to benefit the most from your initial AA meeting in Moscow, Pennsylvania
To benefit the most from your initial AA meeting you need to walk in willing to accept change and be open minded. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes early and stay 30 minutes after because there is always a “before” and “after” for every meeting, where the members of the group gather outside and talk. Make sure during opening remarks that you raise your hand to introduce yourself as a new member of AA. Make sure to ask for a meeting list, with phone numbers of the group members. Last, but certainly not least don’t hesitate to raise your hand and speak, share the journey that lead you through their doors that day.
