What is an AA Meeting?
An AA Meeting is a place to spread a message of strength, hope and courage to other alcoholics. This is a safe place for somebody wanting to get sober to come in and ask for help. These meetings in Hays, Kansas will help them build a support system to live a sober life. You will be invited in by your peers that have all lived and survived from alcoholism. Their survival of maintaining a sober life is dependent on helping others and giving back to others the support that they received.

It is important when coming to AA that you choose a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that motivates them to speak their truth and ask for help. Another type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to one gender. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to maintain sobriety from alcohol. Talking about any other substance use addictions is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply a specific step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings revolve around the 12 traditions of AA. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout AA and maintaining accountability to these traditions is why you can join an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
