What is an AA Meeting?
An AA Meeting is a place where alcoholics and people who struggle with substance abuse gather for one hour to express their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Honuapo, Hawaii will share their experience getting sober through their personal stories with anyone looking to get sober. There is no religion, creed or race, for membership, just the wish to stop drinking, and live a productive existence without alcohol.
How to Choose an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Honuapo, Hawaii
It is important when coming to Alcoholics Anonymous that you select a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of AA meeting is a new comers meeting and is not solely for new comers but is a meeting that motivates members to share their stories and ask for help. The next type of meeting would be a single gender meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other drugs is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply a specific step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are focused around the 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions were created to maintain order throughout Alcoholics Anonymous and maintaining accountability to these traditions is the reason you can walk into an AA Meeting anywhere in across the globe to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Honuapo, Hawaii
The members who benefit the most from AA have found success through getting involved in the program. For addicts who are attending their first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we recommend following the suggestions of the AA members that have successfully stayed sober for sometime.
It is recommended that you reach your hand out and ask for help. Part of staying sober is helping the newcomers of AA in Honuapo get sober, so people are going to be more than willing to help you not drink too. Stand up, introduce who you are, admit that you need help.
