How to Choose an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Lincoln, Michigan

Alcoholism is a disease of the mind, body, and soul. Alcoholics Anonymous has curated meetings to assist with each individual piece of your sobriety. If you are in search of a meeting on the first three steps, beginner meetings are for you. If you are looking to explore your spiritual side, attending a meditation meeting would be an ideal choice. If you are in search of other people’s journeys to sobriety, a speaker meeting is where you need to be. If you have completed your steps and are now working on the traditions of AA, a traditions meetings will help. If you want to attend a single gender group, you can go to a men’s or women’s meeting where no one of the opposite gender will be there. The fact of the matter is there is a meeting for everyone. Try different meetings out until you find one that you feel most comfortable at.

How to benefit the most from your first meeting in Lincoln, Michigan

To benefit the most from your first meeting you need to walk through the front door with an open mind, and the willingness to change. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes early and stay 30 minutes after because there is always a “before” and “after” for every meeting, where the members of the group gather outside and talk. Make sure during opening remarks that you raise your hand to introduce yourself as a new member of AA. Don’t forget to inquire about a meeting list, with phone numbers of the group members. Last, but certainly not least don’t be afraid to raise your hand and speak, share the story that lead you through their doors that day.
