What is an AA Meeting?
An Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting is a program where alcoholics and people who struggle with drug use gather for one hour to express their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting in Jersey City, NJ will share their experience getting sober through their personal anecdotes with anyone working on their recovery journey. There is no religious, social or economic association for membership, just the want to get sober, and live a happy & healthy existence without alcohol.
The Best Method of Choosing an AA Meeting in Jersey City, NJ
It is important when coming to AA that you select a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of meeting is a new comers meeting and is not only for new comers but is a meeting that motivates them to share their stories and accept help. The next type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, either a men’s meeting or women’s meeting. These types of meeting are not opened to the opposite sex. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to maintain sobriety from alcohol. Speaking of any other substance use addictions is not allowed. A Step Study is a gathering that is simply focused on a single step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings revolve around the 12 traditions of AA. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout AA and maintaining accountability to these traditions is the reason you can walk into an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting anywhere in across the globe to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Jersey City, NJ
The members who benefit the most from AA tend to find success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. If you are attending your first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we advise following the suggestions of the AA members that have successfully stayed sober for sometime.
It is important that you reach your hand out and accept help. Part of staying sober is helping the new people of AA in Jersey City maintain their sobriety, so people are going to be more than willing to help you not drink too. Raise your hand, introduce who you are, admit that you need help.
